01

Parrots

Roberto is two different men: handsome or ugly, strong or weak, a success or a failure. But only one Roberto can win, as his life force wrestles with his death wish.

Parrots was translated by Graham Whybrow and first performed by the Actor's Touring Company, directed by Ramin Gray. Arcola Theatre, London, 2011

The original version in Spanish 'Todos los Loros se Llaman Igual' won the New Playwriting Prize in Guatemala in 2010.

02

Monogamy

Annie comes back home 2 days earlier than anticipated. There's nothing unusual in the house, except for the glass and the plate. There is lipstick on the glass, not red like in the movies - the shiny, glittery type, and Alfred does not use that kinda stuff.

A play about relationships and what it is that makes people choose monogamy, even if only on paper.

Premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019 by the Inevitable Theatre Company.

03

With Ice, Please
(An Existentialist's Recipe for a Monologue)

Originally a short monologue, it centers on the question 'Who am I?' and the things that (over time) make us different to what we thought we would end up being. It's also a recipe, and a slightly schizophrenic dialogue with various characters that live inside of me. Loads of fun. I think.

Written and performed by Sophia Mertins. Premiered at Soho Theatre, London in 2010

04

An Inevitable Stitch in Time

Alessandro is running out of time. He tries to squeeze every second out of life and make the most of the time he has, in scientific, creative and mind-bending ways. He delves into the human condition, experimenting with complex theories of Time to navigate his notions of mortality and forever. Carpe Diem.

Full-length play - a collaboration with Jugular Arts and the National Prion Institute (UK).

Premiered at Ugly Duck, London in September 2016

05

This Broken Heart

What if your heart could literally tell you what it wanted? Would you be elated, fascinated, creeped out or just irritated?

Maybe it does have something to say and maybe we should listen to it…even if it is annoying, irrational, dangerous even..?

An all-male comedy-drama written for Jugular Arts and inspired by research on 'Interoception’ by Dr. Sarah Garfinkel and Dr. Cassandra Gould.

First performed at the Proud Archivist, London in 2015.

06

Mad. Sad. Glad

Jack lives and breathes for his passion: screenwriting. His existence is a succession of scenes that he meticulously orchestrates to create his masterpiece. To reach perfection, he is willing to risk anything - and anyone. Unreasonable.

A short film written by Sophia Mertins/Jeremi Durand, directed by Jeremi Durand.
